What does it cost to enter a bid?

Unlike most other lowest unique bid services BassaBids is FREE to use. The only money you will ever pay is the bid amount if you win, nothing more.

What sort of goods will I receive?

All the goods are brand new and go straight from the supplier to you. We choose the supplier, but we pride ourselves on making sure you get the same goods, same service and same warranty as you would if you paid the full price for it.

What about shipping and handling?

We usually ship the goods from a supplier near you, so shipping and handling is always included. There are certain cases where this isn't possible becuase of local laws and restrictions, in which case we will discuss the options with you beforehand.

Lowest unique bidder? What does this mean?

The "lowest unique bidder" is the person who has bid the lowest amount that no other person has bid. When two people place the same bid, that number is no longer unique. When a person has a unique bid but there are others that are lower, then it's not the lowest. To win any of BassaBids online auctions, you must be the one with the lowest AND unique bid at the auction end - the "lowest unique bid". This picture says it all:

How do I bid?

There are 2 ways to bid, online and using your mobile phone (not yet available).

Online bidding.

To bid online first create an account, all we need is your email address and a password for you to use. Your email address will have to be confirmed so you must click on the link that we will email you when you sign up.

Once you have signed up and confirmed you are ready to bid. So find the auction you want and click "bid now" and follow the instructions.

On each auction there is a limit on the number of bids you make, this is usually set to 10 bids per person per auction. Once an auction finishes and starts again you can of course enter again in the new auction.

SMS bidding (not yet available).

To bid using SMS you don't need to create an account first, one will be created for you when you bid for the first time and your password will be sent to you via SMS.

To bid on the Mini, send "mini 118" or "mini 1.18" to our shortcode. This will set your bid to $1.18. You will receive a confirmation message soon after confirming your bid.

If you would like to check your bids and how they are going then you must login to the BassaBids online auctions site using your phone number and the supplied password.

ONLINE AUCTIONS!

How long do they run?

There are two types of auctions on BassaBids, time and bid based.

Time based auctions have a set date for when the auction ends regardless of whether there is one bid or 1000 bids. When the end time is reached the person with the lowest unique bid is declared the winner.

Auctions with a limit on the number of bids end when the last bid available is made. The winner is also the person with the lowest unique bid. The amount of bids left is represented as a percentage.

What do I do when I have won?

If you have won an auction, you will be notified either through email or SMS. In the message you will be sent a special code, don't lose this code as you need it to claim the goods you have won.

With the special code handy, login to BassaBids, then click on winners and follow the instructions. Enter the code and all the details required for delivery and then pay the amount of your winning bid. Once this has been completed we will arrange delivery of the item as soon as possible.
